Oversized to suit a variety of needs, the Governess Storage Bench is a sturdy and dependable outdoor accessory. This cedar bench naturally repels most insects and is resistant to weather damage. The top of the Governess Storage Bench has a padded cushion that is available in a variety of colors. The cushion covering is made of a heavy, weather-resistant vinyl called Tonneau Tex, which is similar to the material that's used for the bed covers of pickup trucks, yet more flexible. Simple assembly is required.

Personalization can be 1 - 16 characters in length. Each character measures approximately 1W x 1H inches and is in Times New Roman.


About Cedar

The oils of this resilient wood guard against insect attack and decay, and their distinctive aroma acts as a mild insect repellant. This is a great idea, great materials - but the quality of construction is poor. The screws that were put in through the bottom of the bench pierced the cushion and it is visible from the outside - ruining the cushion. The screws holding the hinges in place completely too small - I had to replace them all with stainless steel screws. Company did not even respond to my complaints. Spent [$] for an outdoor bench and I wanted more - but with no response I'll never shop with this company again.

    This is a great looking bench particularly for the money. Have to use some common sense when putting it together. I added 2 coats of polyurethane to protect the color and enhance the graining. Will hold 4 cushions plus accessories like candles, trays, ash trays, etc. Great rest spot for tired summer feet !

    Assembly was easy. The side panel screws cannot be tightened before laying down the bottom panel. After putting in proper position, then the sides can be tightened. It will then need to be stained. Will not take much. It is nice looking, but it is so small. Can contain a few small pillows and maybe some thread. A nice bench to sit on and not much more.

    I've had this product for a couple of months now and it has turned out to be a complete waste of money. I purchased the benches (yes, I bought two) for my back patio for small storage and extra sitting room. In just the couple of months that I've had them both benches leak around the cushion and soaks everything inside them. It is NOT waterproof as it states it is. There is now MOLD growing on the inside of the lids and down a couple of the insides AND there is more MOLD growing on the outside. The wood is splintering on all four sides. I am so disappointed, I thought these benches were going to be the answer to what I had been looking for. Do not buy this product if you intend to use it outside!

      A: Yes, it is attached with brass hinges.

      Q2: What is the thickness of the wood?

      A: The vertical slats are 11/16" x 4", and the frame is 1.5" x 1.5".

      Q3: Is the lid counterbalanced? What's under the cushion? Can cushion be removed?

      A: The lid is not counterbalanced.  A storage area is under the cushion.  The cushion is not removable.
